Claims Information

The art posts are now up under flock. You will have to login and join the community to view.

SPN Prompt Post #1 / SPN Prompt Post #2 / RPF Prompt Post / Either Prompt Post

Claims Begin:
A single claims post will open at 7 a.m. UTC on Thursday, September 29.

12 a.m. in San Francisco
3 a.m. in New York
4 a.m. in Sao Paulo
8 a.m. in London
9 a.m. in Paris
11 a.m. in Moscow
3 p.m. in Perth
4 p.m. in Tokyo
5 p.m. in Canberra

For other time zones, see this list.

When the Claims Post opens, authors will comment with their top 3 art choices using the form provided. Failure to use the form may cost you your top choice. Mods will reply and inform the author of which piece they get, and the piece will be struck out in the claims post.

In the first round of claims authors will only be allowed to claim one piece of art. Claims will be first come first serve, and the prompts will be crossed out as they are claimed. If there are unclaimed pieces at the end of two days, there may be a second round of claims, wherein authors may claim a second piece to write for.

A correctly completed form would appear like so:

LJ ID: spnreversemod
1st Choice 2000
2nd Choice 3000
3rd Choice 1000

No editing comments. In the event that you miss out on your top choices you must post a brand new comment to the post with your new selection.

We cannot guarantee that anyone will get their first, second, or even third choice. Some pieces may be very popular, and it is natural to feel some disappointment if you don't get to write for something that really inspires you. However, please bear in mind the feelings of artists who will be reading the comments to the Claims Post as well; making comments along the lines of "I don't want to write for any of this" or "there's nothing good left" will not make any of the artists feel very good. The staff ask for a little empathy on this matter. If you've ever participated as a writer in a Big Bang challenge, I'm sure you can understand the anxiety that comes from having your work chosen quickly or not quickly at all. Rude or inappropriate comments viewed by the mods may be frozen or screened.

Proxies:
If you are acting as a proxy for someone who cannot be online during claims, you need to state that you are a proxy and the username you are a proxy for. No one may act as a proxy for more than one person. If a proxy will also be making a claim for hirself, the two claims should be posted in separate LJ comments.

Multiple claims:
Two or more authors claiming the same piece to write a story for will not be allowed. Authors may only claim one piece of art per round of claims.

After a piece has been claimed:
Artists are free to contact their author as soon as they see that their piece has been claimed. We will be posting an Author/Artist Matchup Reveals post but that will take time for us to do so we strongly recommend that artists proactively contact their authors.

If you have any questions, please comment here, send an email to spnreversemod@gmail.com or send a PM to [livejournal.com profile] spnreversemod.

Where should we claim? On the new post that'll go up, right? Just to avoid confusion. ;)

Hi! The Picasa links don't seem to be working.

Heya :) The video links in the RPF post won't work, one says it's forbidden?

Seconding this, even though my zone is at 2 in the morning. I have that day off anyway, so I should be up.

You guys did I great job setting up this year. Thanks for making everything clear and easy to know when to do stuff. :)

all the entries are lovely!

[identity profile] cherry916.livejournal.com 2011-09-27 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
3 Am is just wow but I can manage.

I have a question about proxies? I have a friend I want to proxy for cause she can't be online so do I just put that in the same comment as mine or a new one?

[identity profile] expectative.livejournal.com 2011-09-27 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
It is written in this entry that

If a proxy will also be making a claim for hirself, the two claims should be posted in separate LJ comments

I'm sorry if this comment makes life difficult for you as mods, and I do appreciate the work you're doing, but is it necessary for the claims post to open so early in the morning for many of the timezones involved? It seems to either fall in the middle of the workday for those in Asia/Oceania/etc., or the middle of the night for everyone else (excepting the lucky few in Central Europe, who get it first thing in the morning). I probably don't speak just for myself when I say waking up at 3am on a workday is a tall order for a fandom challenge, when it could easily be bumped back a few hours so people in later timezones are making their claims at night, and everyone else at a more reasonable morning hour.

Is it possible you might consider shifting things back a few hours (like, 4 or 5)? I'm sure no one wants to miss out on making their claims, but asking people to choose between a decent night's sleep before work/school/whatever and a challenge is perhaps a bit much, and gives a distinct advantage to those who won't have to struggle out of bed before the sun is up and coherently make a claim. Personally speaking, I don't even know if I can speak English at 3am... ;)

9 a.m. my time, fantastic. I won't be at home before half past 1 p.m., and I only write Dean/Castiel. That's just my usual luck, a bad one. Mods, how is the authors to artists ratio?

[identity profile] aythia.livejournal.com 2011-09-27 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Finally a challenge set to a good time zone for me! *grins* Also, thank you SO much for providing the time zone list!

Before claims go up I wanted to let you know that I'm going to have to drop out as a writer. I've over committed myself online and in RL for the next several months so I'd rather get out now than disappoint or stress out anyone later.

Sorry! Looking forward to seeing and reading everything that comes in though.

[identity profile] deadflowers5.livejournal.com 2011-09-27 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
A great thank you for the "empathy" part!

[identity profile] deanawinchester.livejournal.com 2011-09-27 11:05 am (UTC)(link)
I'm going to wait till Thursday to decide if I'm going to drop out, or not, but I think I'm going to...

So much amazing art! Now to convince my nocturnal brother that he should claim for me so I can sleep! *laughs*

Mods, you're all awesome!

Apparently I also have a question

[identity profile] cleflink.livejournal.com 2011-09-27 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Too bad I didn't think of that sooner. *facepalm*

What happens if all three of your choices are already taken by the time you make a request? I assume that one of the mods will let us know, but can we then post a new request list?

Oh, well. I guess I'll wait until after school to claim, then. :'D

Wow, what an awesome collection of art: I'm even more in awe than last year!

BTW: I think the final Either Art piece has a confusion number: E2021, shouldn't that be 3021?

MIght sound dumb, but.......the art all have a designation that's 'SPN' or 'RPF' or E - should we include that with the number?

OMG. I narrowed my want list down to 25 choices, and that nearly killed me. God knows how I'll pick just 3. Seriously. Not being overly dramatic here. How do you manage to choose with all the outstanding art posted on here? Darn you artists! :D

damn, I'll be at work when the promptlist goes up, need to see if I can check on things on my phone while there*g*, and make sure I don't forget to take the numbers of my fave prompt pics with me, so I can try and claim one of them*g*

[identity profile] jimmyssock.livejournal.com 2011-09-28 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
You could store them pre-prepared in your phone.

I just wanted to say thank you so much for having the claim's at a reasonable hour for those of us on this (Australia) side of the world.
