Submission Guidelines for Artists

As promised, here are the guidelines for submitting art for the spn_reversebang . Art drafts are due September 20th, but you can start sending them whenever you are ready.

• Submissions should be sent to spn.rbang.mod@gmail.com with the subject Art Submission. Attach the file(s) to the email.
• You can submit one to three prompts. These prompts should not be linked, as each prompt could be chosen by different authors. If you are doing a comic style piece with panels, it must be one image file.
• There is no maximum size or dimensions for art, though each art prompt must be at least 400 by 600 pixels in size. If it is a vid it must be at least 1 minute in length.
• Because of the large number of artists and prompts, the claims post will include links to full size art rather than previews. There is no need to submit a thumbnail version.
• Images can be sent in the following formats: GIF, JPG, PNG, and TIF
• Vids can be sent in the following formats: 3GP, ASF, AVI, MOV, MPEG, MPG, RM, RV, and WMV
• We will be requiring the following naming convention: artistname_prompt#. For example spn_rbang_mod_prompt1.jpg. This will allow us to keep things organized and to ensure no duplicate file names.
• For each image you need to fill out the following information:

ETA: We've gotten a few questions about the term prompt. "Prompt" refers to the vid/piece of art that will be used in the claims post.

ETA 2:  There have been a few questions about what the rating refers to - the fic or the art.  We'd like you to include a rating for the art itself first, but please feel free to include a note about the rating of the fic you're looking to inspire as well.  E.g.  "Rating:  Art is PG13, but the fic can be higher. ;)"  ...or something.

Wait, can you clarify how many pictures we can submit for a single prompt?

I wanted to do one prompt with a set of four pictures, and another separate prompt with a single picture. Would that be okay?

Each prompt for the claims post is one image or vid file. This file can contain multiple panels (like this (http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m13/creativescreenname/attemtp_unique_prompt2.png)) or can just be one frame.

Once the claims have been made, you can use as many pieces as you want and give them to the author, but for the claims post it needs to be one file.

The art is the prompt. The author who picks the art will be writing a fic based on it. I used that term since it could be either art or a vid. Sorry for the confusion!

Argg... It's not to late I suppose, but I don't know where I am supposed to look for them...

I'd say PG13, just to be safe. There'll be a warning at the top of the claims post that some prompts may not be work-safe, which should cover it.

When you say 'draft', you mean it can be a sketch, right? (Obviously one that has recognizable information that prompt inspiration;) Or does it have to be one fully finished piece of artwork to which one can possibly add stuff for the author later?
For instance: I'm starting with a pencil sketch, but want to make that into something more before the final postingdate. Would that pencil version be sufficient as a prompt?

I second this question lol - I have cut out all effects for the preview vid and made a diddy screen version and it comes in just over 10mb (in theory it may attach to an email 10 is the usual limit) but if there's an alternative...?

If you have several images all for the same prompt, we ask you to stick them all in one image file (like a really quick collage). Or you can choose to submit just one image for us to post for the author claiming and we can add a note in the description that other images will be also be coming.

The draft has to be at least 1 minute in length, but it is just a draft - you don't have to have all the transitions and everything worked out. We just want to make sure you have a good start on something that can reasonably be finished in the next month before posting begins (as well as something shiny your author can look at for inspiration ;) ).

It's unclear to me what "Rating" refers to: to the art itself or to our rating preference for the story. In my case, the prompt is G but I don't want that to put off an author looking to write NC17.

Ah, sorry for the confusion. I think the rating was originally just for the art, but people are using it for the rating of the fic they'd like as well. I'd list both just to be safe. (e.g. Rating: G for art, fic can be anywhere from G to NC17.)
