The 2017 How to Post post!

It's almost time! Next week the first RB teams are presenting their art & fics, so here are our posting guidelines.

We leave it up to each artist/author team to decide amongst themselves who will post to spn_reversebang, but we will not approve any submissions that do not have links for BOTH art and fic. When it is your posting date, please use the following format:

Keep Author/Artist notes, disclaimers, and other extra things to the actual fic/art posts. This will help prevent master posts to this community from getting too lengthy or cluttered.

Banners are allowed (encouraged!) so long as they are work-safe and no larger than 500px in width and 400px in height.

You must include relevant tags with your masterpost including: challenge: 2017, genre, medium, pairing, rating, and word count. In the event that more than one pairing tag could apply or there are multiple types of art, then include all that are relevant. If there isn't an appropriate tag for your story, feel free to request one in the comments. Also, post the entire work at once, do not post it piecemeal, like a serial.

Be sure to communicate with your partner before posting! (You should be talking to each other anyway, yes? If you haven't touched base in several weeks, please do so!) Talk with each other about what the comm masterpost should say, how any additional art should be displayed, the tags it will use, and a suitable time when you can post together. If neither of you can post on LJ, contact the mods as soon as possible before your postingdate: spnreversemod@gmail.com

After your masterpost goes live on our LJ, you are free to pimp it all over the internet. (You can post the fic and art on your various sites to get the URLs, as long as you post your Masterpost here at the comm IMMEDIATELY thereafter, cool?) Dreamwidth users are welcome to repost their Masterpost in our DW:)
!There is an AO3-collection for 2017 HERE! If you want to add your works there, you can do so by typing 2017_spn_reversebang into the collections field at AO3 when you edit or upload a work. As always, past collections are still open:)

Hey! I have never participated in RB before so I just want to make sure I understand correctly.
We're posting the story to AO3 and then we post to LiveJournal with the format you've outlined?


I'm worried I'm going to screw something up.

Don't worry, we're here to help:)
The format given is for posts in this community on LJ. In order to complete it you need a link to wherever you post your fanwork. If that's on AO3, you can set up your fic there first, so you have a link to the story to put in the code and then post it in the spn_reversebang community. Same goes for wherever you post the art.
You can check if your links work before you hit that post button on the masterpost here.

Question--

There is only the one piece of art for my story which the artist will be putting on her tumblr and I will link to.

However--what is the protocol for including the actual picture in the post on my page with the story? Yes I can or no, not to be done?

You absolutely can put it with your story, but make sure you also link to the artpost on Tumblr, and encourage people to give the artist some love in their own space:)

So I was setting up the master post on the Reverse_bang community and set the posting date for Nov 9 and got the message:

Client error: Not allowed to post to community with moderation queue

Is that just because I can't preset the post in advance of my posting date? Or am I doing something wrong?

Hmm, not sure! But that probably is the case, that you can't post-date the entry if you're not a moderator. It should allow you to post normally, but we have to approve the entry for it to go public. I haven't been able to find a faq addressing this issue, but I'll test drive it from one of my other accounts...

Hello!

So I had a question, now that I saw the posts for the first posting day, I wanted to ask if the Reverse Bang blog would be uploading the posts onto tumblr if the creators themselves didn't. For example, I saw that the creators of Ensnared created a tumblr post (and you guys reblogged it). I plan to create a tumblr masterpost for the fic and art as well as an LJ one. So would I need to send the link to the spn reverse mods or do I just do my thing and you guys will reblog it? Not sure how it'll work ;-; Sorry for the questions it's my first bang haha. Thanks!

Answering questions is what we're here for!

We won't be posting masterposts on Tumblr, but we will indeed happily reblog any art or fic that is posted there. If you link to it in your masterpost in our LJ community, we will find it:)
If you have a Dreamwidth account, you can put up a masterpost in the SPN_Reversebang DW community (https://spn-reversebang.dreamwidth.org/)!

The only time us mods will put up a masterpost is when a team doesn't have an LJ account.
