2015 Art Previews are Here!

Today's the big day! All you eager authors out there get to peek (and be tempted by) some wonderful art! We've decided to do it a little different this year; we're test-driving using Flickr as our hosting site for the images. It's a wonderful viewing platform and allows for gorgeous expansion of the images. Let us know what you think.

NB in Flickr click on the image to read the information about the picture and find any links to gifs and vids.

If we've inadvertently forgotten anyone or you see a problem, shoot us a PM or email us at spnreversemod@gmail.com ASAP. (We're only human! I swear. No angels or demons here. Might be a shifter or two, though. Not sure.)

Remember, no reposting anywhere else without permission of the artist. A few of the images may not be safe for work, so view with care. Claims will commence Saturday, November 7, 10:00 am EST.

So, without further ado, the 2015 SPN RB art!

May I post some of these to pinterest? If no, it's not a big deal.

I love the big/clear viewing with flicker - very nice!

I don't see the info on the pics tho - i get the zoom/no zoom, but that's it? Am i missing something?

If you click on a picture, you'll get a description in the left hand corner below it. Beware of ads looking like prompts though (especially if you have it set to slideshow;)

Love the viewing on Flicker...once I figured it out, lol. Took me a minute or two to realize how to find the prompt/descriptions but then it was really great with the ability to zoom in and out. Great work and great art! Can't wait for Saturday.

Ahh, there are so many great pieces to choose from!! I can't wait to get one claimed and start writing!

Dear God, why is this fandom so talented! There's royalty!boys... need... to... resist...

seems my internet isn't good enough to use flickr successfully - I keep getting errors when loading. Are the pictures stored somewhere else? Preferably as smaller images so that I don't have to use all my data loading images I can't write for?
Can you make your captcha not image related too? it took 5 mins to load it :(
cheers.

I'll be honest... I'm not a big fan of the Flickr viewing. Def. liked the old way better, as you had an overview of what was posted and you could read all the descriptions right away. Now you have to click on the picture to read everything and I find that very annoying.

But then again, I'm an artist and not a writer, so my oppinion doesn't really matter I guess. :)

I'm a writer and I agree with you. Also there are some things I don't particularly want to see but now I have to see everything. It's not helped by the fact that I have very limited internet so every time I open the flickr page and it takes 10 mins to load I can see the $$ :) I guess I may not be writing this year :(

I really like how y'all have set this up on Flickr! I love getting to see all the art up front.

And oh my gosh we have so many talented people out there!

Mods, you have done a fantastic job with this! The new Flickr environment is just awesome. \o/

[identity profile] sailorhathor.livejournal.com 2015-11-03 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm just an artist as well but I have to go with the opinion that I don't like the Flickr presentation. I don't like what it does to my art and it's obviously excluding some writers with limited internet. I prefer the old way; I wish there was some way people could choose which way they want to view the art.

[identity profile] sailorhathor.livejournal.com 2015-11-03 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Beyond that, WOW, there is some gorgeous art this year!

[identity profile] rule-number-7.livejournal.com 2015-11-03 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
No description appears anywhere when I click a pic. Actually, the only thing that happens when I click or right-click the images is the bottom of the image gets a little darker, that's it. What am I missing?

Oddly enough, it works on my phone. Must be my old laptop that doesn't like Flickr.

I don't know how the previews were done in previous years, but if it was all on LJ, I'd have to say I prefer that way. And as others have mentioned above, this way doesn't seem fair to the writers who are having difficulty viewing the art.

I deeply appreciate how much work it takes for the mods to maintain these things, but just for me personally I would love to be able to browse this on LJ so I can pick and choose which images to view rather than seeing them all and so I could read the descriptions without clicking on them. I get that it is an experiment and so that's why I'm stating my personal opinion, just as feedback for the mods. ETA: Even the ability to just view them in a sequence rather than all together would be nice (perhaps I don't know flickr enough to get it to do that for me, they all show up as one large collage).

Woo hoo. Our artists have surpassed themselves again! What a fabulous lot of art!

I had no issues with Flickr. I found I could glance over the whole lot and then choose to drill down on particular pieces that interested me, or I could drill down on the first picture and then just scroll through all of them in drilled down mode. Very easy and non-traumatic for me personally.

[identity profile] jennilah.livejournal.com 2015-11-04 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Yay! Everyone's lovely art!

I'm an artist but I will have to agree with the others though, about how this new format forces the writers to see everything that they might not want to see- like squicks or possible triggers. It kind of nullifies the art warnings which we gave, in that case. Just my two cents! c:

I am excited for this year's Reverse Bang, though! Can't wait to see what my future writer does with my art!

[identity profile] kuwlshadow.livejournal.com 2015-11-04 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
I'm an artist and a long time Flickr user so didn't have a problem with it. This is my first year doing the reversebang so don't have a reference on how it used to be. I do like it and you are able to click on the photo so it can be enlarged to be seen better. I didn't have a problem viewing it on my phone nor my computer. Sometimes on Flickr if there is a lot of photos on the stream, it will take forever to load but I didn't see that being an issue (...at least on my end...and I tend to have slow internet access!)

Though to me this isn't a downside but I understand what some people are saying on the above comments in regards to viewing the illustrations. All the the images are displayed with no warning. This is unavoidable unless you changed the safe setting but then you'd have to be a member of Flickr to view those images. At least the thumbnails are small that they can be easy scanned through should you not want to view that particular illustration. I like that you gave a warning on your main LJ thread that some photos may not be safe for viewing at work. Hate for someone to get in trouble should they want to take a peek during their breaks and their company monitors there internet usage.

Never hurts to try new things though. I actually like that the previewing is on Flickr but that is my own opinion. Just want to give a high 5 to all the hard working mods in this community. :)

I love the way the pictures all viewed together but it makes it difficult to navigate when I am in office because the NSFW arts are in the same page as the 'safe' ones. Second, I have trouble viewing the description, like none at all. I prefer the old LJ format better because I usually chose to ignore art prompts that I am not interested in. I can read the warning and the ship at the description first before deciding to view the art in a bigger scale.

I hope this can be considered for next year.

Thank you.

PS: Where's the description? and the prompt code? How can I choose the prompt number?

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2015-11-04 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
If you hover over the thumbnail you'll see the prompt number. When you click on the thumbnail it takes you to the viewing page and you will see the full description below the picture.

So much pretty art all at once ! Thank you for your good work, dear mods :D

I've read through the comments above and I have to say there are some good points (like, warnings, pairings, etc.) but at the same time I find much more interesting, for a reverse big bang, that we really see the art first (and then description, requests from the artist etc, etc.) ... I guess solution would be to create a tumblr expressly for the rbang each year, that way people can filter some with the help of tags and still see the pics in a spread (although it would require more editing work re:adding the tags... maybe a submission system ?). Just my two cents. I do not receive money or compensation in any way from tumblr or yahoo or any of its affiliates.

I'm so excited for the day claims happen, gonna be hitting refresh like every five seconds to see what gets snapped up first.

It is SO HARD to not tell everyone which one is mine. Eeee.

I'm so excited for tomorrow!
