Artist Sign Ups 2014

This is the post for people who would like to create art for this challenge.

Artists will be expected to turn in at least one piece of new art by Monday, October 27th.

Early Bird Exception: Artists who wish to submit up to three (3) prompts must complete and submit one (1) prompt by Monday, October 20th. Otherwise, up to two (2) prompts will be allowed per artist.

Sign-ups for artists will close on Sunday, October 19th!

Art should be unpublished elsewhere and completed. You may still make changes, but the art should be complete enough that a writer could work from it even if no changes are made. This art will be posted anonymously, along with a sentence or two about your pairings (if any), maximum rating, squicks, and a short text description of their piece (optional). Please note: the description is not meant to be a story prompt or request.

Authors will then go on to claim art to write for, similar to the way artists claim authors' summaries in regular Big Bang challenges.

Authors will write a story of at least 3000 words inspired by the art, and posting will begin Thursday, January 2nd.

Drawings, paintings, digital manips, and fanvids are all allowed as submissions. Art must be at least 400px by 600px, or at least 30 seconds in length if you are submitting a fanvid.

It is encouraged that artists have their work reviewed by an art beta. You may refer to our beta sign-up post to contact people who have volunteered to help out, or use your own betas (we will not be assigning betas in this challenge).

Due to the way art claims are set up, it would be difficult to ensure that an author would be familiar with an additional source of canon. It has also proven to be extremely difficult to find pinch-hitters. Therefore, this year crossovers are not allowed to be specified/requested.

Everyone who wishes to participate should join and watch the community, to make sure they do not miss important deadlines or updates to the challenge.

Also, please don't repost the art to tumblr, DeviantArt, etc. untill after it has been united with its fic and officially posted to the comm as a finished product. After that, post all over the place!

Authors will be expected to write a fic with a minimum of 3,000 words, based on the art you choose in the Art Claims post. Claims will be first come, first serve. Rough drafts meeting the minimum required word count will be due Sunday, December 7th.

Fics must be beta read. You may refer to our beta-sign up post to contact people who have volunteered to help out, or use your own betas (we will not be assigning betas in this challenge).

Beta Sign Ups 2014

This is the post for people who would like to volunteer to beta art and fic for this challenge.

Authors are required to have their work checked by a beta reader, though it doesn't necessarily have to be by someone on this list. Artists are not required to have their work beta-checked, but it is encouraged.

Please note that the mods will not be pairing/matching betas with participants; artists and authors should contact a beta volunteer directly.
