2013 CLAIMS INFORMATION

ART PREVIEWS:
Members-locked art preview posts will go up on Friday, 10/25 so everyone can get a chance to look through the art before the claiming begins. You must join the community and be logged in to view the art previews.

ART CLAIMS:
A NEW claims post will open Saturday, 10/26 at 10AM PDT (GMT -7). You will NOT make claims on the art preview posts. When the claims post opens, authors will comment with their top 5 art choices. Mods will reply and inform the author of which piece they get.

In the first round of claims authors will only be allowed to claim one piece of art. Claims will be first come first serve, and the prompts will be crossed out as they are selected. If there are unclaimed pieces at the end of two days, there will be a second round of claims, wherein authors may claim a second piece to write for.

Please use the following comment format when making your claims:

No editing comments.
In the event that you miss out on your top choices you must post a brand new comment to the post (not a reply to an existing comment) with your new selections.

We cannot guarantee that anyone will get their first, second, or even fourth choice.
Some pieces may be very popular, and it is natural to feel some disappointment if you don't get to write for something that really inspires you. However, please bear in mind the feelings of artists who will be reading the comments to the Claims Post as well; making comments along the lines of "I don't want to write for any of this" or "there's nothing good left" will not make any of the artists feel very good. If you've ever participated as an writer in a Big Bang challenge, I'm sure you can understand the anxiety that comes from having your work chosen quickly or not quickly at all.

Proxies:
If authors are not available during the claims period, they may use a proxy to submit their choices. If a proxy is making a claim for themselves as well, they must leave two separate comments, one stating their top 5 choices and one stating the top 5 choices of their friend.

After a piece has been claimed:
Artists are free to contact their author as soon as they see that their piece has been claimed. We will be posting a Author/Artist Matchup Reveals post and as well as sending email notifications to authors and artists, but that will take time for us to do so we strongly recommend that artists proactively contact their authors ASAP.

When I first read this I thought I'd have to miss out the first round of claiming because I had to be at work exactly when they started and I got really bummed, but after checking my schedule again I realized I don't have to be at work until a whole two hours later. BRING IT ON!

You can have anyone with an LJ account be your proxy. They do not have to be another author participating in this challenge.

Can we post a second post right after our first one (just in case), or do we have to wait until we're told all of our selections are not available before we post a second post?

You do not have to wait until you're notified that all your choices are taken. If after you make your initial comment, you notice that users above you have taken your selections, you can make another comment at that time. Please do not automatically make two comments one after another, though, because that will make it difficult to keep track, especially if everyone does it.

Yes, 5 choices across all categories. That said, prompts do go fast so have back-up choices beyond the first five at the ready just in case.
