Welcome to the post for people who would like to volunteer to beta art and fic for this challenge!

Authors are required to have their work checked by a beta reader, though it doesn't necessarily have to be by someone on this list.
Artists are not required to have their work beta-checked, but it is highly encouraged. A once-over by a beta is a great way to improve!

Please note that the mods will not be pairing/matching betas with participants; artists and authors should contact a beta volunteer directly.

Hi. I signed up and I'm looking for a beta. I create maniped photo images using an app (PicsArt) on my android phone. I know that most betas will use photoshop or possibly Gimp and that's cool. I've worked with betas using different programs before, and figured out how to translate their suggestions with my app. I have two art pieces I'm working on and both are pg and Sam/Dean_J2_Gen depending on where the writers decide to go with them. I hope you might be willing to try art betaing for me.

I have done freelance paid editing work as well as a good bit of fanfic, and I am an excellent & assiduous copy editor (that means I hunt down spelling, grammar & punctuation blips!) but please at least run it through a grammar checker of some sort first to save time.

Please note: I am writing for the challenge myself and it is looking to be a pretty long story, so I have less time to beta and have already promised my services to one author. That's not to say I won't consider another! But if you want copy editing rather than just content approval, especially if your story is longer than 10K words, I'd appreciate advance warning. If you're really struggling to find a beta and are in despair, ask :)

Pairings: Dean/Anybody (or anything..!) preferred, but I won't turn down any pairing.
Ratings and Warnings: Pretty much anything that isn't uber dark (see below). Will happily take on ultra weird stuff - like writing everyone as alien tentacled lizards or a whole universe of Deans or whatever. If you break them, please at least try to put them back together again (at least as well as the show does!) None of the art prompts look like anything I couldn't handle, but that always depends what the writer does with it ;)

I am NOT willing to beta:
Pairings: N/A - but I am a lot more conversant with the show characters than RPF personalities
Ratings and Warnings: HARD NOS are hurt/no comfort, unhappy endings & TFW2 or Impala permanent character death. SOFT NOS (open to discussion, because it depends how you approach it!) are graphic het; mpreg; Daddy kink; any of TFW2 abusing or torturing each other*; and hardcore BDSM (esp. pain/humiliation).
*A certain degree of dub-con is fine in context, e.g. Boy King of Hell or Deanmon type fics. As long as there's still some love there, & a happy ending.

Hi there! I'm writing Dragonwilde, a Sam/Dean, pre-industrial AU where Dean is a dragon. It is looking to be rather long, but I am an editor myself so there won't be much copy-editing required (although nobody is perfect ;) so I'd really just like a content-structure beta. The only warnings to take note of are mild bestiality - they will only have sex in human form, but there are going to be several fairly explicit references to human/dragon interaction. I'm not sure yet if there will be any character deaths but if so, they would be canon-compliant - certainly not Dean or Sam. If that's okay, would you consider taking it on for me please? :) Chapter one is already done!

To all fanfic authors, yay for you for sharing your creativity and wonderful imaginations with us. Your efforts are appreciated!
I was an English major. I am an excellent proofreader for spelling, punctuation, grammar, tense, continuity, etc.
For stories that were betaed, I could also help cut down on the following: usage of words that don’t match the intent and meaning of the sentence (i.e. prostrate when they mean prostate, allegoried for alleged, etc.); I cringe when these mistakes are made by native English speakers. Writers who thank their beta(s) and yet the story is full of mistakes, or writers who perhaps didn’t want to look up the meanings of the words chosen to make sure they knew the correct word for the definition they were conveying.
I know that this is not an earth shattering life issue, and not important to some, but for some of us, correct writing makes the reading flow better, making the story more enjoyable. This often results in the reader going back to read more from that author!
