ANNOUNCEMENT!

ANNOUNCEMENT!

Got more art burning a hole in your pocket? Or your brain? Throw it our way! Because it’s been asked, and because we always have more authors than artists, we’re now offering artists the option of supplying up to THREE pieces, not just two. Tomorrow is the deadline for Early Bird submissions, and it would still be awesome to still get that in on time, but ultimately our goal is to get as much art into as many authors’ hands as possible, which will result in more glorious projects for us to enjoy!

Remember, however, sign-ups for artists end TODAY, October 13th! And the final deadline for all art is Monday, October 21st.

*ponders*

If you elect to do three pieces, and your early-bird has already been turned in, are the remaining two still due on 10/21?

*ponders more*

Thank you! I do have a third idea and will give it a shot, but . . . no guarantees? :)

If we were allowed to sign up as both an author and an artist, I'd love to do a piece of art. However, I really want to write as my first priority...

Maybe if there isn't enough art, letting two authors write stories for an image? It would be interesting to see different takes.

OMG I CAN MAKE A THIRD ENTRY!? ......... Can it be porn? XD

I actually did had a third idea.... but I forgot what it was....

[identity profile] zara-zee.livejournal.com 2013-10-14 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. I just saw your list of art projects and while there can never be too much of your amazing art in the world I am starting to think that you need Artaholics Anonymous!!! :)

[identity profile] chef-geekier.livejournal.com 2013-10-14 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
*points at icon* You made as happy as an Octodean in a bucket. This means I can do both the remaining ideas I was trying to choose between! Yay!

Question: I had a second idea but I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it by Early Bird whilest working on my main art (but started it anyway >.<). However, since this third submission has been offered and I'm refining my main art, can I submit the second piece on the regular submission date (should I finish it)?

It was never intended as an Early Bird submission, it was just another piece I was working on.

[identity profile] cassiopeia7.livejournal.com 2013-10-14 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, you evol enabler, you! ;)

[identity profile] cassiopeia7.livejournal.com 2013-10-14 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, no one has ever accused me of being sane, so . . . XD

[identity profile] cleflink.livejournal.com 2013-10-14 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Pfff! Takes one to know one, my dear. <3

[identity profile] cassiopeia7.livejournal.com 2013-10-14 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL, I certainly can't deny that! XDDD

[identity profile] felidraxian.livejournal.com 2013-10-15 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
I already sent in my piece and I was only planning on doing one, so I didn't title it 'early'! If I wanna maybe enter another art piece, what should I title it?

[identity profile] sailorhathor.livejournal.com 2013-10-19 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Any chance the deadline can be extended a week so people can finish their 2nd and 3rd submissions? Otherwise, when (if?) I turn them in on Oct. 21, they're going to look like a ten year old photoshopped them. :D

[identity profile] soserendipity.livejournal.com 2013-10-20 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I wondered about something similar to what [livejournal.com profile] sailorhathor has asked. I've been working non-stop on #2 and #3 whenever I had the time, but it might still not be possible to get both of them to 75 % (or at least to make them pretty enough to attract potential authors) by tomorrow. Just one or two more days would already go a long way of helping me out.

Would it be possible to extend the deadline for 24 to 48 hours, maybe just for the submission of the third piece? LIke, #2 by the 21st and #3 latest by the 23rd or something? I can understand if you want to stick to the schedule, though, I'll do my best to finish in time anyway. I just thought I could ask. And the worst case scenario is participating only with the early bird one so at least I'd still be part of this :).

[identity profile] soserendipity.livejournal.com 2013-10-21 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no, I fell asleep, three precious hours gone, damn! Anyway. Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
I really didn't want to send in WIPs because all the artists that I adore and admire came here to play. Along with a solid number of mind-blowing authors... I guess I'm just scared. I'll see what wins out, the fear of looking like a bad joke next to all the huge names or the urge to create something. Thanks anyway. (Yeah yeah, me and my insecurities, never ending story. Sorry if I'm sounding defeated here. I'm still having a blast doing this, I'm just tired. Thought-to-written-word filter's not working yet.)

[identity profile] containerpark.livejournal.com 2013-10-21 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Hi, i also haven't finished yet my art. I don't know it's already 75% but I'm sure it's not. I determine to submit it as finished art, not wip, but here's the thing, I live at gmt+7, can i send the art when it's already pass the due time at my place but it's still 21st somewhere else in the world?

[identity profile] playthefool.livejournal.com 2013-10-22 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
I have similar insecurities, so I get you. I was really nervous my first Reverse Bang because I only had lineart finished and as soon as I submitted it I was an anxious mess, ESPECIALLY with so many great artists out there. But it all went very well. Like the mod said, writers need to have some kind of inspiration, and that isn't something found in just polished, finished art alone. Finished or not, your art could have some element that will spark something in an author's head, and they'll start writing the fic in their head... and the rest is history! :)

I'd hate to see you or any artist hold something back just because it's not polished; you'd miss out on a lot of fun, I think. If you have WIP on it they'll know you're working on it. ♥

If you have other art from past challenges or that you've done for fun, you could also put them in an easily accessible place on your journal so that potential authors can get an idea of what kind of art you do.

Good luck!

[identity profile] soserendipity.livejournal.com 2013-10-22 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
That's good advice, thank you. I don't really mind to be on the bottom of this talented pool of artists as long as I get claimed at all ;). I can't wait to see what all the others came up with!

[identity profile] soserendipity.livejournal.com 2013-10-22 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I guess you're right, from an author's POV things are different. I only wrote a single story so far and this will be the second challenge that I do art for so unfortunately I'm not that experienced with the inner workings of these things. And turning into an angsty pile of doubt seems to be my default behaviour when it comes to sharing art or words, as it seems. Creating stuff is so much fun, but to then let others judge it and claim it or not, oh god, I hope that's not gonna happen erm. Yeah, anxious mess is pretty accurate.

But it's nice to hear that other artists go through similar phases. (I mean, not "nice" per se, but it's a relief not to feel alone with it.) Did you submit something for this year, too?

[identity profile] playthefool.livejournal.com 2013-10-22 10:16 am (UTC)(link)
I definitely go through that and I'm sure plenty of others do, too! It's natural, I think, to feel anxious about people looking at something you put a lot of work and heart into. I'm sure you'll get claimed, try not to worry yourself sick over that - the writers are a pretty diverse group that all like different things. :D

I did submit some stuff this year, and I'm really excited to see everyone else's work!

[identity profile] soserendipity.livejournal.com 2013-10-22 11:16 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, me too! I'm starting to bounce up and down every time I think of it. All the pretty! All the stories that will come of it! This Reversebang is such a brilliant idea :).

I've been giving that same advice at the support com for the [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang, and I know I shouldn't worry that much, but it's hard for me to stay rational where my own work is concerned. But then again, I suppose everyone feels a little insecure, that's true. On another note: I just tried to sneak a peek at your journal, but I think it's f-locked. Would you mind adding me so I can have a look? It's perfectly understandable if you're not comfortable with that, though, seeing as you don't know me at all. Just let me know, no worries.

[identity profile] playthefool.livejournal.com 2013-10-22 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, my journal is pretty much a shell, so you won't see anything whether we're friended or not. :P I tend to blog on other platforms and use this one specifically for community involvement and most recently, challenges!

I'll friend you though, so we can keep track of each other. :)

[identity profile] soserendipity.livejournal.com 2013-10-22 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, let's keep tabs, definitely! I already added you back. I'm sure soon enough your journal will be swarmed by people who'll stare at your art in amazement and then I can say "Pff, I've known her even before she became your favorite artist." :).

I loved your work for "Trinity", by the way. Pretty intense stuff, but beautifully executed. Even the details are pretty; the fire and the bloody devil's trap and the splatter in the last one - wow. The banner with the bruises and the scratches on those poor souls? Yup, awesomeness. Now that I snuck that peek, I'll try to guess which of the submissions is yours once the art posts go up - that's probably going to be as much fun for you as it'll be for me when I get it all wrong ;).
